How to play Around the World
Around the World is the simplest accuracy game in darts: hit every number from 1 to 20 in order. It's a great warm-up, a fair game for mixed abilities, and a race against the clock on your own.
Rules
- Start on 1. When you hit your current number, move on to the next.
- Any part of the number counts: single, double or treble all move you on by one number.
- Darts that land anywhere else don't count, and there's no penalty for missing.
- Finish after 20, or optionally after the bull as a final target.
Winning
In The Darts App each player throws their whole run in turn, with their own clock that starts on their first dart. Once everyone has finished, the fastest time wins. On your own, it's a personal best to beat.
Stuck on a number? You can retire from your run: you get no time, and play moves on to the next player. The fastest player who got round still wins, and if nobody gets round, nobody wins.
Round the clock on doubles
Set Counts to Doubles and only the double of each number moves you on: the classic doubles drill, and a hard one. If you finish on the bull, it needs the bullseye. Doubles runs keep their own records and their own tab in your performances.
Round the clock on trebles
Pick the Trebles chip on Around the World, or set Counts to Trebles, and only the treble of each number moves you on. It's the drill for scoring: the treble 20 is where most of your points come from, and the other trebles set up your checkouts. The bull still needs the bullseye. Trebles runs keep their own records and their own tab in your performances.
Why practice it
It makes you aim at every part of the board, not just the treble 20, which is exactly what you need for checkouts and for Cricket. Timing it gives you an honest measure of how quickly you can hit a specific target.
