Checkout drills
Most legs are won or lost on the finish. These drills put you on a finish again and again, with a dart limit, so you practice the route and the double under pressure.
Every drill
- Every finish must end on a double; the bullseye counts as a double.
- A dart that would leave you below 0, on 1, or on 0 without a double is void, and so is the rest of that visit. Your score goes back to what it was before that dart.
- The scoreboard suggests a route for the darts you have left in the visit.
121
Start on 121 with nine darts to check it out. Finish it and your next attempt is one higher (122, 123…); miss and you drop back one, never below 121. You get ten attempts, and your result is the highest score you checked out. These rules follow Gran Darts' 121 game.
Catch 40
Check out every score from 61 to 100, in order, with six darts each. You score points by how quickly you finish, up to 120 for three points on all forty:
| Finished in | Points |
|---|---|
| 2 darts | 3 |
| 3 darts | 2 (99 in three scores 3) |
| 4 to 6 darts | 1 |
| Not finished | 0 |
The scoring follows the version published by DolfDarts.
Random checkout
Ten finishes are dealt at random, and you get one visit (three darts) at each. Pick the range you want to work on:
- 2–40: the doubles, and the single you need to set one up.
- 41–100: the two- and three-dart finishes that come up most in a leg.
- 101–170: the big finishes.
- Any: anything from 2 to 170.
Every finish dealt can be taken in three darts, so the bogey numbers (159, 162, 163, 165, 166, 168 and 169) never come up. Everyone playing gets the same ten, and your result is how many you check out.
Nine-dart finish
Pick a finish, 81, 121 or 170, and get nine darts to check it out, ten times over. Unlike 121, the target doesn't move: it's the same finish every attempt, so you can drill one route until it's automatic. Your result is how many of the ten you check out.
41 to 60
Every finish from 41 to 60, in order, with one visit each. These are the finishes a single and a double take out, so the drill is about hitting the right single and then the double. Your result is how many you check out, out of 20.
Stats
Each drill keeps a personal record from every finished run: your highest checkout in 121, your best score in Catch 40, and the most finishes checked out in the others, kept apart for each range and each nine-dart finish.
