Target practice: 99 darts and doubles

The simplest practice there is: pick a target and throw at it, counting every dart that lands. Do it the same way every session and the number tells you whether you're getting better.

One target

Pick a number (1 to 20, or the bull), the bed that counts (the treble, the double, the single or any of it) and how many darts: 30, 60 or 99. Every dart that lands in that bed is a hit.

99 darts at T20 is the classic: 33 visits at the treble 20, the bed that wins most legs. 99 at D16 or the bullseye works the same way for finishing.

Doubles

One visit at each double, D1 to D20 and then the bullseye: 21 visits, 63 darts. Play them in order, in reverse (the bullseye, then D20 down to D1), or in a random order dealt for each game. Every dart in the double is a hit.

Getting the most from it

  • Keep the setup the same every session, so your scores compare.
  • Play a bot alongside you for company; it throws at the same target.
  • The result screen shows your hits as a share of darts thrown, the number to beat next time.

Stats

Each drill keeps a record of your most hits, kept apart for every target, bed and length, so 99 at T20 is only ever compared with 99 at T20.
